Privacy
Pexii is built for people whose private lives are private. We collect as little as we can, we keep Australian members’ data in Australia, we never sell it, and we never show your details to other members without your say-so.
This policy is written to meet the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Pexii is operated by [company name] Pty Ltd (ABN [to follow]), trading as Pexii (“we”).
What we collect today
Pexii isn’t open yet. Right now we only run a waitlist, and for it we collect:
- Your email address or mobile number, so we can send your invite link and tell you when Pexii opens in your area.
- Which door you chose (Creators, Curious or Courageous) and your neighbourhood, so we open each area when it’s ready.
- Your consent to hear from us, and when you gave it.
- An invite code for you, and the code of whoever invited you, if anyone did.
- Basic technical information, such as your IP address, which we use only to block abuse (for example, too many sign-ups from one address) and don’t keep with your waitlist entry.
We never tell anyone whether a particular person is on the waitlist, including anyone who asks.
What we’ll collect when Pexii opens
When the app launches, we’ll ask for more, always explaining why at the moment we ask:
| Information | Why | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Name you choose to show, photos, profile details | So other members can decide whether to meet you | Profiles are private by default; your real name is never shown to other members |
| Verification results | Every member must be a verified adult | A specialist verification provider checks a live selfie and, where needed, an ID document. We receive only the result (for example “verified adult”); we don’t store your ID document or selfie |
| Sensitive information, such as sexual orientation or practices, relationship style, or a health-partner “tested” badge | To match you with the right people and events | Collected only with your explicit consent, and never shown publicly. For health badges, the partner confirms a test date; we never receive your results |
| Messages, intros, event bookings | To run the service | Messages are private between the people in them |
| Neighbourhoods you’d travel to | To show you nearby plans and events | We don’t track your precise location |
| Payment details | For paid features, once they exist | Handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number |
Biometric information (from the live selfie) is sensitive information. It’s collected only with your express consent, used only to confirm you’re a real, unique adult, and deleted by the provider once the check is done, subject to their legal obligations.
How we use it
To run Pexii, keep members safe, prevent fraud and repeat offenders, meet our legal obligations, and improve the service. We don’t sell your information, we don’t use advertising trackers, and we don’t let third-party scripts run on our sign-up pages.
Where it’s stored
Australian members’ information is stored in Australia, on Amazon Web Services in Sydney and Melbourne. Our systems are set up so personal data can’t be stored in other regions by accident.
Some service providers (for example, our verification, email and SMS providers) process information on our behalf. We choose providers that keep Australian data in Australia wherever we can. If any provider processes your information overseas, we’ll name the country here before it happens, as Australian Privacy Principle 8 requires.
Discretion
- Notifications never reveal what they’re about (“You have a new message”, not who from or what it says).
- Other members never see your contact details or your real name.
- We never confirm to anyone that you’re a member.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep information only as long as we need it. You can ask us to delete your waitlist entry or your account at any time, and we’ll do so unless the law requires us to keep something (for example, records of safety reports).
Your rights
You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you by emailing privacy@pexii.com. We’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Adults only
Pexii is for people aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we delete it if we find we have.
